IOC, along with its employees, donated $147,130 and 6,624 pounds of food to people in need
(Canada) Montreal, Sept-Îles, Labrador City, January 20, 2010 – In the month of December 2009, IOC employees came together once again to demonstrate that they have much to give to those less fortunate. Their efforts, along with those of IOC are a welcome conclusion to the holiday season.

Michel Filion, Director of Communications and External Relations at IOC, and responsible of the Christmas donation campaign mentioned : “Donation from each of our employees has a big impact in the 3 communities, especially since IOC matches the amount. It is important that we help people in need, because we can. More that ever!”

The annual food drive in Labrador City – Stuff the Bus – was once again a huge success. IOC partnered with USW locals 5795 and 6731, and J&[!smc?]S Busing to collect 6,624 pounds of food for the local Food Bank. IOC donated an additional $500 to the Labrador West Ministerial Association on behalf of Primary Ore- the winner of a friendly internal competition for the most food collected.

The 12 Days of Christmas – Annual Labrador West Ministerial Association Christmas Appeal is a local charity to which IOC agreed to match every dollar donated by IOC employees. Through the combined efforts of employees and IOC a total of $28,974. was donated to the association.

Similar success was achieved in Sept-Iles, where employees dug deep and came up with $37,741. to donate to the United Way (Centraide)[!smc?] an amount that was matched by IOC. In total, the donation in 2009 came to $75,482.

Our employees in the Montreal office also held their Centraide campaign reporting donations of $21,367. With IOC matching that amount, contributions for Montreal totalled $42,734. Centraide of Greater Montreal is an organization that assists people in need.

IOC is the largest manufacturer of iron ore pellets in Canada and its customer base covers North American, European and Asian steel producers. The Company operates a mine, concentrator and a pelletizing plant in Labrador City, Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as port facilities located in Sept-Îles (Quebec).
