Our procurement activities are coodinated through Rio Tinto Procurement. This ensures a fai evaluation and selection process is applied consistently to all prospective suppliers.

 

Rio Tinto Procurement's systems are based on appropriate methods of competition among qualified suppliers of goods and services. They also ensure the intellectual property of suppliers is protected.

 

Suppliers are chosen on the basis of:

  • Health, safety and environmental considerations
  • Quality ans service
  • Competitive pricing
  • Technical capabilities
  • Consistency with our values

 

IOC Supplier Standards

The Standards for Suppliers (“Standards”) are the Iron Ore Company of Canada’s (IOC) fundamental expectations from its suppliers. These standards are expectations of business integrity, environmental compliance and employment practices.

 


All Suppliers and their subsidiaries, including all subcontracting, will be held to these standards. When the specific requirements of the standards are different, the most restrictive rules applies.


IOC may elect to not work with or cease to work with suppliers who do not meet these expectations.

Reports gifts and entertainment

An important aspect of the IOC Standards is the requirement for suppliers to report gifts and entertainment (“Gift”) of $25 or more, either individually or cumulatively, on an annual calendrer basis. The reporting is done through completing form via this link, which will be sent directly to IOC. The requirement to report ``Gifts`` includes gifts to IOC and Rio Tinto employees and contractors who acting in the role of an IOC employee.
